Midlands based Flextraction Ltd have chosen Merlin as their new business software solution.
Established in the late 1990s, and operating from their Midlands base in the market town of Melton Mowbray in Leicestershire, Flextraction design, manufacture and install dust and fume extraction systems for a variety of industries in the UK and as far afield as Europe, Asia and Australia.
Having outgrown their Sage accounting software solution, Flextraction looked to the IT sector for a new system that would help to both underpin and support the growth of their business; however, things initially did not go to plan.
Ryan Marsden, Flextraction’s General Manager explained; “After a false start with another software house we felt that we probably had no choice but to continue with our current system of using Sage and a variety of other software packages. It was after this that Merlin made contact with us.”
“Merlin were extremely sympathetic with what had happened to us and it was great to see just how keen they were to manage our expectations from the outset. From the start, Merlin demonstrated their ability to handle our need to produce a graphical, highly-technical presentation quote as standard, but they then went on to show us additional functionality that we hadn’t even considered was available for a company of our size.”
Joe Cunningham, Flextraction’s Services Manager commented “The more we explored Merlin, the more we could see ourselves using it day-to-day. Very fast and very easy for any of our staff to use with a very familiar Windows look and feel to it.
What we particularly liked was that we could pick and choose the modules we needed to cover our different processes in the business, such as the Document Management module which we will use for attaching emails, drawings, correspondences to jobs. This will mean we will have all supporting documents in one place where everyone can access them, instead of searching through separate folders on the server. Merlin’s Customer Relationship Managment and Business Intelligence offerings were perfect for us, too.”
Joe continued “…but it was when we saw Merlin’s Production Control and Shop Floor Data Collection modules, we realised that this was a very serious end-to-end business system that would allow us to produce highly accurate costings for quotes and then track all aspects of materials and labour in real time through our workshop once we had received the customer’s order.”
Ryan also added, “Given our previous experience we were keen to see the Merlin software in action for ourselves and they arranged for us to visit one of their more-recent customers with an almost-identical business profile – we were not disappointed.” “Joe and I were extremely grateful to Simon Horseman, one of the Directors of Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) over in Tamworth, for spending the morning showing us how they were running Merlin, and we were tremendously impressed to hear about the significant benefits in efficiency that Merlin had delivered to ITC across their business.”
“We can’t wait to go live early next year and the Merlin team have already commenced their implementation process with us.”
