Frank Key Ltd is the largest privately owned, independent, builders’ merchant in north Nottingham. It has a 100 year history of providing classic service since being founded by Mr Frank Key in 1907.

The Products

Frank Key is renowned for being the largest independent builders merchant in north Nottingham. Their products and services can be split into three main areas. Building and Timber materials – With over 8,000 lines in stock.
Plant and Tool Hire – This includes power tools, building equipment, garden machinery and home and leisure hire.
Skip hire and waste disposal is Frank Keys third line of products where they offer both mini and builders skips.

The Requirements

When Frank Key decided to look at the market with a view to updating their software, Merlin’s software stood out as the leading system for the industry. The main issues for Frank Key were that the system could handle all areas of their business including the Plant Hire and their existing data could be converted from their current system.

The directors were also looking for a system that would take them into the future and help expand their ever growing business. It was vital that they could improve the ef ciency of the trade counter and telephone sales, but as the company expanded, they had to be sure that the system they chose would also cope with the growth in users.

The Solution

After evaluating a number of systems, Frank Key was convinced that Merlin was the right choice of software; not only for their immediate requirements but also for the future.
